Autonomous Module (Discovery-DFS.exe)

As an alternative to inventory using the wizard, the autonomous Discovery module can be used. This is particularly recommended when the replication configuration needs to be captured, as this data can only be fully retrieved through local execution on the DFS system.

This is executed directly on the DFS server and generates a result file that is subsequently imported into Docusnap via the File Import.

The following module is available for inventorying DFS systems:

Discovery-DFS.exe – Supports Standalone DFS as well as all domain-integrated versions

For a complete capture of all relevant data during DFS inventory, it is necessary to run the Discovery-DFS.exe module with local administrator rights and, depending on the data to be captured, with additional permissions for Active Directory and for the DFS folder targets.

The Discovery-DFS.exe module can be executed either by double-clicking or via the DFS server’s command line. After the inventory is completed, a DSI file is created in the folder where the Discovery-DFS.exe is located, which contains all the information.
